  • What is Rogers Smart Drive?

    Rogers Smart DriveTM is the connected car solution for your family that works with your Share EverythingTM plan. There are two components: the Rogers Smart Drive device, which plugs directly into your car, and an app. The app will collect information from the device and track things like your car’s location and your driving habits, plus provide diagnostic alerts so you can make sure your car stays in good shape.

    What’s more, Rogers Smart Drive lets you turn your car into a Wi-Fi hotspot and connect up to 5 Wi-Fi-capable devices.

  • Will Rogers Smart Drive work with my car?

    Rogers Smart Drive works with most gasoline and diesel engines plus hybrid cars manufactured for use since 1996. To see if your car is compatible, use the compatibility tool at rogers.com/smartdrivecheck. The Rogers Smart Drive device is not compatible with most electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid cars. Some diesel cars may not provide complete and accurate data regarding fuel efficiency.

  • How do I install the Rogers Smart Drive device?

    The Rogers Smart Drive app will show you how to locate your on-board diagnostics (OBD II) port and how to install the device. Always make sure that your car is turned off when plugging in or removing the Rogers Smart Drive device. You are responsible for ensuring that the device is installed securely and properly. Once the device is installed and your car is turned on, Rogers Smart Drive will start working to collect data from your car quickly – usually within 10 minutes.   • How secure is Rogers Smart Drive?

    The device, communication, and app include security protections. The Rogers Smart Drive device only collects information. It cannot write information to your car’s computer or change the way your car works. All data communication between the device and the app occurs over a cellular Virtual Private Network (VPN), which provides security against unauthorized third-party access to those communications.

  • What data does Rogers Smart Drive collect from my car?

    The device collects driver behaviour information, such as acceleration and braking, speed, and RPM. The device also reports your car’s location using GPS and can report on common car issues, which are called Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC).

    You can access all of the information that your car is recording, but it may vary from car to car by make, model, and manufacturer. While the majority of the features will remain consistent, if your car isn’t providing a particular piece of information then you won’t be able to see it in the app.

  • What do you do with my data once it’s collected?

    The Rogers Smart Drive app uses Mojio’s platform to store, understand, and share your data. Further information about how Mojio uses customer data can be obtained by reading Mojio’s Privacy Policy at moj.io/privacy. Your personally identifiable data will never be sold, traded or used in a way that violates our privacy policy. For more information, check out the Rogers Privacy Policy at rogers.com/terms. By using Rogers Smart Drive, you agree with both the Rogers Privacy Policy and the Mojio Privacy Policy.

  • Will Rogers Smart Drive drain my car’s battery?

    The Rogers Smart Drive device goes into sleep mode when your car is not being used, which will help prevent battery drain. However, if you plan to park your car for a long period of time (eg: several weeks), you should unplug the device to conserve battery power.

  • Can I use a different SIM or cellular network with the device?

    For security reasons, the Rogers Smart Drive device is locked to the Rogers network and only accepts legitimate Rogers SIM cards purchased from Rogers or an authorized Rogers dealer.

  • Does Roam Like Home work with Rogers Smart Drive? How do I turn off Roam Like Home service if I don’t want to use it while travelling?

    Yes! You can roam with this device and use your plan just like you would at home. However, if you don’t want to be charged for any data used by the device while you’re travelling, you need to turn off your car and completely unplug the device from your OBD II port. Otherwise, the device will use up data by transmitting information to your phone even if you’ve turned off the Wi-Fi function.

  • What is an OBD II port and where is it located in my car?

    The on-board diagnostics (OBD II) port is the same port that mechanics use to diagnose car trouble and engine problems. You can usually find it beneath the driver’s side dashboard near the steering wheel.

  • Can I use the device in more than one car?

    Yes, if your family owns multiple cars that are all compatible, you can use the device in more than one car. You can also have a separate device for each car, all connected to the same app. If you move the device from one car to another, the app will start collecting real-time information from your current car while also showing you the previously collected information from your old car.

  • How does the Wi-Fi hotspot work?

    Your car’s Wi-Fi hotspot works just like your home’s Wi-Fi network. You need a password to connect to the hotspot, which you can change right from the app. Choose “Wi-Fi Hotspot” from the options menu and then click on “Password” to update it. Only people who know the password will be able to connect.

    You can connect up to 5 Wi-Fi-capable devices to the hotspot, such as smartphones, tablets and laptops.

  • If I change my phone, or my phone number that is currently linked to my Rogers Smart Drive device, will it still work?

    If you change your phone, all you need to do is reinstall the Rogers Smart Drive app and then sign in again! If you change the phone number linked to your Rogers Smart Drive device, you will need to contact Rogers so we can get your device reassigned from your old phone number to your new phone number.

  • How will Rogers Smart Drive trigger data alerts? How I do know how much data I’ve consumed with this device?

    Your data notifications will be sent to the primary account holder on your Share Everything plan, or to the assigned Data Manager. You will also be able to manage your family’s data through MyRogers using the Family Data Manager tool.

  • If my Rogers Smart Drive device/service doesn’t work, who do I call?
