What is a Data Alert?
Data Alerts is a new program which enables Rogers Wireless to notify you at certain thresholds of ineligible data usage/charges on the Unlimited On-Device Mobile Browsing Plan! A Data Alert SMS will be sent to you automatically with the example message:
Rogers Alert: You have reached 80% of your data plan allowance. Additional data charges may apply for usage in the remainder of this invoice period.
How could I incur additional data charges outside of the Unlimited On-Device Mobile Browsing Plan?
You may be incurring additional data transfer charges if:
If you have downloaded an application to your handset that is not Rogers Certified, see rogers.com/mobileinternet for a list of eligible applications and websites. OR
On the Nokia N95 8GB, when you launch the Nokia mobile Internet browser and do not see the Rogers homepage, you are accessing the mobile Internet outside of the Unlimited On-Device Mobile Browsing Plan. OR
Tethering: When you use your phone as a wireless modem to connect to the Internet. The phone can be connected via USB cable or infrared Bluetooth. Once connected, you can access the Internet wirelessly on your laptop using the Rogers Wireless network.

The Data Alerts are sent free of charge to help protect you against additional data transfer charges that were incurred by connecting to an application that accessed the mobile Internet while bypassing the Rogers mobile Internet browser.
Is there a cost to receive this Data Rater SMS notification?
No, these notifications are free of charge and automatically provided to customers with an Unlimited On-Device Mobile Browsing Plan. You may receive multiple notifications as you incur data charges throughout your bill cycle at pre-defined data usage rates.
