IBLc Call Display troubleshooting

Your Call Display on your phone could be clear or blank because of an:

  • equipment issue
  • inside wiring issue
  • inactive Call Display
  • unresponsive eMTA (phone terminal)

Try these 4 troubleshooting techniques to resolve the issue(s):

  1. Check that your IBLc phone is compatible with call display. Refer to your telephone manual to confirm.
  2. Check if the phone power adapter and electrical outlet are both plugged into the phone outlet and there is no other cord or objects blocking the connection.
  3. Verify that your eMTA is connecting correctly by using the RJ11 phone jack to test the connection by following these steps:
    1. Bring a working phone to the eMTA. If it’s a cordless phone, make sure to bring the handset, main base with the AC power cord and phone cord with you.
    2. Remove the phone cord on the back of the eMTA from the telephone’s ½ port and set the cord aside.
    3. Connect the phone cord from your phone to the back of the eMTA. If this is a cordless phone, make sure you connect it to AC power.
  4. Reset the eMTA following these steps:
    1. Reboot/Reset: Find the tiny round hole labelled “Reset” or “Reboot”
      1. Poke the hole with a non-sharp, pointy object, such as a pencil or a paper clip, and hold for 5 seconds.
      2. Check if the lights on eMTA are normal again.
      3. Check if your telephone(s) are working again.
    2. Hard reset: Remove the battery, unplug the power cord, and plug it back in after 1 minute.

Before redialling the number, make sure you do not have a pre-programmed area code as the call will fail. Refer to the phone manufacturer's user guide to learn how to delete the area code.
