According to a new IDC study, and reported on by Network World, cloud spending (in the U.S.) is expected to surpass $44 billion USD in 2017. The same study is predicting “non-cloud” equipment sales to decline by three per cent.

While the numbers are promising for cloud technology proponents, to provide some context, Network World reports sales of that “non-cloud” hardware will still make up over half of total infrastructure spending.

Long-term data suggests this trend toward cloud technology adoption will only continue to strengthen.
