How to use Home & Away modes in the Rogers Xfinity App

Easily control which motion events send you notifications based on whether you're home or away. Follow easy steps to customize these settings in the Rogers Xfinity app.

What are Home & Away modes?

Home mode: Ideal for when you’re at home and expect movement around the house. Home mode alerts are off by default, so you won’t get notified every time someone walks by a sensor. This lets you move around freely without being interrupted by alerts.

Away mode: Ideal for when you’re out and want to be notified of unexpected activity or any motion. Away mode alerts are on by default so you can protect your home while you’re away.

Switching between Home and Away modes

To use these modes, you’ll need:

  • Rogers Xfinity Internet with WiFi Motion enabled, or
  • Rogers Xfinity Smart Home with activated cameras or sensors

Home and Away modes help you configure notifications based on motion within your home. Use these device guides to learn how to switch between the modes.

Alerts in Away mode

Alerts are on by default and notify you when you’re in Away mode and unexpected motion or sensor activity is detected while you’re not home. Your alerts depend on which feature or activated sensor you’re using.

  • Wifi Motion feature: Alerts when motion is detected.
  • Rogers Xfinity Smart Home with activated cameras or sensors: Alerts when motion is detected.
  • Rogers Xfinity Smart Home door and window sensor: Alerts when a door or window is opened.
  • Rogers Xfinity Water Sensor: Notifies you in both Home and Away modes when a water leak is detected.

On iOS, alerts use Critical Alert Capabilities appearing on the Lock Screen and play a sound even if Do Not Disturb or Silent Mode is on.

You can customize which sensors trigger alerts and disable notifications if needed.

Notifications in Home mode

Alerts are sent as standard iOS and Android notifications and are off by default in Home mode but can be enabled to receive updates when motion or sensor activity is detected. Your notifications depend on which feature of activated sensor you’re using:
