Perform Master Clear with Buttons Combinations on Android Device

The following steps describe how to master clear Android devices that is frozen or stuck in an application or the screen is completely white or black, with button combinations.

Note: This process should be used for Android devices that are frozen or stuck in an application or the screen is completely non-responsive. This will delete all settings from the device including system and application data, downloaded applications, any saved settings and/or Wi-Fi profiles. The methods may vary based on the manufacturer and model of your device.

Method 1 - HTC, LG, and Motorola

  1. Turn off the device (remove the battery if necessary).
  2. Press and hold the volume down and power buttons.
  3. Release the power button when the device vibrates, but keep holding down volume button until the Android system recovery menu displays.
  4. Use the volume keys to scroll and highlight wipe data/factory reset.
  5. Press power to select, device will begin to restore back to factory default.

Method 2 - Samsung and LG

  1. Turn off the device (remove the battery if necessary).
  2. Press and hold the volume downvolume up and power buttons.
  3. Release the power button when the device vibrates, but keep holding down volume buttons until the Android system recovery menu displays.
  4. Use the volume keys to scroll and highlight wipe data/factory reset.
  5. Press power to select, device will begin to restore back to factory default.

Method 3 – Samsung

  3. Release the power button when the device vibrates, but keep holding down volume and home buttons until the Android system recovery menu displays.
  4. Use the volume keys to scroll and highlight wipe data/factory reset.
  5. Press power to select, device will begin to restore back to factory default.

Method 4 - Samsung and Sony

  1. Turn off the device (remove the battery if necessary).
  2. Press and hold the volume up and power buttons.
  3. Release the power button when the device vibrates, but keep holding down volume button until the Android system recovery menu displays.
  4. Use the volume keys to scroll and highlight wipe data/factory reset.
  5. Press power to select, device will begin to restore back to factory default.
