Rogers Xfinity Internet DNS Privacy Statement

This privacy statement explains how we handle data that is collected by the Domain Name Service (“DNS”) provided by Rogers as part of the Rogers Xfinity Internet services (the “Rogers DNS”) and (the “Rogers Encrypted DNS”).

A DNS server allows a user to translate humanly readable domain names – such as rogers.com into an Internet Protocol Address (IP) of the website.  The Rogers DNS provides this functionality to its users automatically unless they choose to use a third-party DNS or one of their own.  Individual client query data is not logged - when answering a DNS query, the server discards all request data immediately after sending back the response to you.  The Rogers DNS collects and maintains data necessary to provide DNS functionality including, timestamps, source IP, DNS query response and DNS query response times.  This data is used in telemetry equipment to monitor performance and detect security vulnerabilities/malware that may be associated to query data.  Rogers uses this data to optimize its DNS platform, mitigate security issues and maintain, operate, improve, and troubleshoot the Rogers DNS service.

Rogers provides an alternative encrypted DNS platform using the DOH protocol (DNS over HTTPS) to protect your Internet queries from tampering and intrusion (the “Rogers Encrypted DNS”).  The Rogers Encrypted DNS data collection policies are similar to those of the Rogers DNS.  Rogers may store aggregated Rogers Encrypted DNS statistics including, for example, frequency and volume data, or anonymized diagnostic information for longer periods, however this information is not used, alone or in combination with other data, to identify an individual. Rogers does not use the Rogers Encrypted DNS Data for marketing or sales purposes and will not sell or sublicense this data to any third party.
