The satellite-to-device service offered by Rogers Satellite currently supports select low-data rate satellite-ready apps with an optimized device and operating system that supports satellite-ready apps. (Visit rogers.com/support/satellite for the latest information on device manufacturer requirements.) Satellite data speeds are limited, and apps marketed as satellite-ready by app developers may not support all functionality, particularly those that require higher bandwidths such as audio or video streaming. Currently, there are limitations when sending multimedia content over satellite. For iMessage and RCS, you will not be able to send or receive multimedia content over satellite. For MMS, you may send multimedia content, but it is limited to a maximum file size of 3KB. Third-party apps may prioritize essential functionality for satellite-ready apps due to low bandwidth conditions; performance may vary, and some apps/services may not function or may operate differently than on terrestrial cellular networks.
If you have used all of the high-speed data included in your plan, you will continue to have access to Rogers Satellite data services at any reduced speed applicable to your plan, with no overage charges (subject to your Rogers mobile plans data policy; Rogers Satellite Messaging customers subject to up to 512 kilobits per second (for both upload and download)) until the end of your current billing cycle. If speeds delivered over the satellite network are lower than applicable reduced speeds, your service over the satellite network will not be impacted by this change. If the satellite network could otherwise deliver higher speeds, messaging will continue to work but your experience sending multimedia content over satellite and satellite-ready apps will be impacted.
As the Rogers Satellite capabilities continue to evolve, additional data functionality may become available, and any usage will be deducted from your plan’s monthly data limit.
