Understanding the Power Saver feature
The Power Saver feature can help lower electricity bills by powering down your set-top box when you’re not using it.
- This feature is on by default and set to 4 hours of inactivity.
- To change the settings:
-
- Press the Rogers or SHAW button on your remote.
- Select Settings (gear icon).
- Select Device Settings.
- Select Power Preferences.
- Update your settings from there.
If you’re recording a program, Power Saver won’t stop your recording, even if your box is powered down.
HDMI device control (HDMI-CEC)
- Your TV box goes into standby when you turn off your TV.
- It wakes up automatically when you turn your TV back on.
- Pressing the Rogers or SHAW button on your remote switches your TV to the right input.
This feature is on by default.
To turn it off or on:
Go to Settings > Device Settings > Power Preferences > HDMI Device Control (HDMI-CEC) > choose Off or On
HDMI‑CEC may appear under a different name depending on your TV brand. Check your TV manual or search online for how to enable CEC on your TV.
If your TV doesn’t fully support HDMI‑CEC, your set-top box may keep using data after you turn off your TV. To avoid this:
- Log out of any streaming service before turning off your TV.
- Switch to a regular channel (not internet-based) before powering down.
- Activate Power Saver mode on all devices.
