Ignite TV Parental Controls

We understand that Parental Controls are an important part of your family’s experience. With Ignite TVTM’s smart and simple Parental Control options, you’ll stay in control and in the know. Ensure your kids a safe and happy time in front of the TV – and your own peace of mind – with these Parental Control features.

Set your PINs

Setting your Parental Control and Purchase PINs enables you to enable kid-friendly settings to safeguard your child's time in front of the TV.

Parental Control PIN

The Parental Control PIN enables Safe Browse and Safe Search, which prevent adult programs and movies from being searched for or watched.

  1. Use a voice command like “Parental Controls” to open the Parental Controls menu, or press the Rogers button on your Voice Remote, then Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
  2. Select Parental Control PIN. If you haven’t created one yet, you will be asked to enter a new one.
  3. Enter your preferred 4-digit Parental Control PIN, press the OK button.
  4. Re-enter your new PIN when prompted, then press the OK button to confirm

Purchase PIN

The On Demand Purchase PIN enables Purchase Protection, which makes all Ignite TV purchases password-protected.

  1. Press the Rogers button on your Voice Remote to open the main menu.
  2. Select Settings (the gear icon).
  3. Select Purchase PIN.
  4. Highlight Purchase PIN and press the OK button to toggle the feature On.
  5. Enter a four-digit  Purchase PIN when prompted.
  6. Re-enter your new Purchase PIN to confirm. Your Purchase PIN is now set.

Access Common Sense scores

The Common Sense age-appropriateness score gives parents a snapshot of which age group a program is appropriate for. Here's how to access it.

  1. Select the program you're interested in. The Common Sense age-appropriateness score will display to the right of the title.
  2. Press the Last button on your Voice Remote to return to the Guide.

Access the Parental Guide

The Parental Guide provides basic insight for parents regarding any title.

  1. Select the program you're interested in.
  2. Select Parental Guide below the program's description. More details about its rating will display.
  3. Press the Last button on your Voice Remote to return to the program's main page.

We've made it easier for parents to manage their parental controls for a stress-free entertainment experience.

Activating Safe Browse or Safe Search

Safe Browse

Depending on the level of protection you choose, Safe Browse hides the titles of adult programs and menus in program listings.

  1. Use a voice command like “Safe Browse,” or press the Rogers button on your Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls, then Safe Browse.
  2. To turn Safe Browse off, select Safe Browse Off, then enter your Parental Control PIN to confirm.
  3. To turn Safe Browse on, select either Medium Safety or High Safety based on how much protection you want.

Safe Search

Safe Search prevents adult titles or menus from appearing in Ignite TV search results.

  1. Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
  2. Highlight Safe Search and use the OK button to toggle the feature on or off.
  3. If you’re turning it off, enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted, then press the OK button to confirm.

Locking Content

You can lock content by movie or TV rating, channel, title, On Demand status or app. Once locked, this content will require your Parental Control PIN to be accessed.

Movie or TV Rating Locks

  1. Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
  2. Select Movie Rating Locks or TV Rating Locks.
  3. Select the rating(s) you want to lock. Once selected, the lock icon next to the rating will change from unlocked to locked.
  4. To unlock a rating, highlight it and press the OK button, then enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted. Press the OK button again to confirm.

Channel Locks

  1. Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
  2. Select Channel Locks.
  3. Select the channel(s) you want to lock. Once selected, the lock icon next to the channel will change from unlocked to locked.
  4. To unlock a channel, highlight it and press the OK button, then enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted. Press the OK button again to confirm.

Title Locks

  1. Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
  2. Select Title Locks.
  3. Select the title(s) you want to lock. Once selected, the lock icon next to the title will change from unlocked to locked.
  4. To unlock a title, highlight it and press the OK button, then enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted. Press the OK button again to confirm.

On Demand Lock

  1. Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
  2. Highlight On Demand, then use the OK button to toggle the lock on or off.
  3. If you’re unlocking On Demand, enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted, then press the OK button to confirm.

Application Locks

  1. Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
  2. Select Application Locks.
  3. Select the app(s) you want to lock. Once selected, the lock icon next to the app will change from unlocked to locked.
  4. To unlock an app, highlight it and press the OK button, then enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted. Press the OK button again to confirm.

Setting lock schedules

You can lock access to Ignite TV during specific dates and times.

  1. Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
  2. Select Day and Time Locks.
  3. Select the day(s) of the week that you want to lock, then press the OK button to confirm.
  4. Select the start and end times that you want to lock, then press the OK button to confirm.

Resetting your parental controls

Reset your parental controls to erase all its settings and start fresh. Note, this does not affect your Parental Control PIN.

  1. Use a voice command like “Parental Controls,” or press the Rogers button on your Voice Remote, then select Settings (the gear icon), then Parental Controls.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select Reset Parental Controls.
  3. Select Confirm.
  4. Enter your Parental Control PIN when prompted, then press the OK button to confirm.
