Rogers is offering Canadians the opportunity to test satellite-to-mobile messaging in real-world environments. Feedback from the Rogers Satellite beta trial will be used to optimize the service ahead of our commercial launch. Canadians who register will get a chance to be one of the first in Canada to experience this next generation technology.

Rogers Satellite beta trial is open to all Canadians on any provider. You’ll need a satellite-ready smartphone or Apple Watch to use this service.

Eligibility is based on a compatible smartphone or Apple Watch and an eligible plan. If you have a compatible Apple Watch, you don’t need to register. Rogers Satellite is included in your smartwatch plan until June 30, 2026.

Rogers Satellite is available as an add-on for existing customers or as a standalone for new ones.

Rogers Satellite beta trial includes text messaging and text-to-911.

The service will expand to select apps, data and voice service (includes 911 calls) in the future.

Satellite-to-mobile service is an emerging technology. When you’re in a Rogers Satellite coverage area, you can use your phone for texting and text to 911 in case of an emergency. Rogers Satellite works optimally if you have an unobstructed view of the sky.

Currently, it’s only available south of the 58th parallel. Your experience may vary depending on your location, satellite positioning, the weather and terrain. In best conditions, most messages will send within a few seconds.
