Easy Setup Guide – Rogers Xfinity Gateway modem (Gen 4)

Follow these easy steps to install your Rogers Xfinity Gateway modem (Gen 4).

Here are some tips for finding the best place for your gateway modem:

DO place your gateway in the most central location in your home where you have a cable outlet.
DO make sure your gateway is raised on a shelf or table.
DON’T place your gateway on its side, stacked on top of other electronics or close to electrical panels/power bars – this can cause signal interference.
DON’T place your gateway inside cabinets or behind furniture – this can cause overheating.
DON’T place your gateway next to speakers or wireless electronics/appliances, or materials like metal, concrete, mirrored surfaces or glass – these can absorb or reflect the WiFi signal.

If you’re installing Rogers Xfinity TV only, complete steps 3 and 4. After that, you can set up your Rogers Xfinity set-top box.

Download the Rogers Xfinity or Rogers Xfinity (Shaw) app and sign in using your MyRogers or MyRogers (Shaw) username and password.

If the Get Started screen doesn’t show up, select the Account tab then Activate Rogers Xfinity Gateway.
Connect your gateway using the coax cable and power cord provided. Don’t plug your gateway into a power bar, extension cord, or an electrical outlet controlled by a dimmer or wall switch.

Next, the app will test your connection to pair your gateway. Wait for a solid or blinking white light. This can take between 5 to 20 minutes. The light on your gateway should flash and turn orange, then green, then turn either solid or blinking white.

- When the light flashes orange and green back and forth: Your gateway is performing a software update. This can take up to 20 minutes.
- If the light doesn’t turn white: Try another cable outlet in your home.
- When the light turns solid or starts blinking white: You’ve now successfully paired your gateway to your app.

Next, choose a WiFi network name and password you’ll remember. You can set the same name and password you use today to keep your current devices connected without interruption.

- Important: If you change your WiFi network name or password, you’ll need to reconnect all your devices to WiFi, including smart home equipment.
- The app will finish setting up your network. This can take up to 10 minutes. Don’t leave the app or unplug your gateway during this time, or you'll need to start over.

You can now turn on Advanced Security to help protect your network from online cyberthreats.

- Note: Advanced Security will not work if your gateway is offline or in bridge mode.

Connect your devices using an Ethernet cable: To connect devices like gaming consoles:

Connect one end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on your device.
Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the back of your gateway

Test your internet speed: To find out if your internet speed is performing well, visit Testing the speed of your gateway (iOS) or Testing the speed of your gateway (Android).
Personalize your WiFi settings: To learn how to adjust your WiFi network's name, password, security settings and more, visit Edit your WiFi settings (iOS) or Edit your WiFi settings (Android).
