Fix IP not updating for connected devices on Hitron CGN3

Symptom

After manually changing the IP address of the Gateway (eg. 192.168.x.x), wirelessly connected devices get limited/no connectivity and will not be able to go online. Any devices wired directly to the Gateway will work properly.

Cause

Changing LAN IP on the Hitron CGN3 does not automatically update on wirelessly connected computers.

Resolution

  1. Release/renew the IP address on any affected wireless devices.
    • For Windows computers this can be done in the Command Prompt:
      • Click Start.
      • Type cmd in the Search bar.
      • Type in ipconfig/release and press Enter.
      • Type in ipconfig/renew and press Enter.
    • For Mac computers this can be done in the System Preferences:
      • Click the Apple icon and select System Preferences.
      • Click Network.
      • Click Advance...
      • Click TCP/IP and click Renew DHCP Lease, then click OK.
    • For other wireless devices there is usually an option to Renew Lease in the Wi-Fi settings.
  2. If the issue continues, there may be an issue with the wireless device that is unable to connect.
