The Rogers Xfinity app gives you a complete view of every device connected to your home WiFi. These features are available for Rogers Internet customers using a Rogers Xfinity Gateway.
View and identify devices
You can see all your devices currently or previously connected to your network. When a device connects for the first time, it often shows a default name like the manufacturer or MAC address.
To identify an unfamiliar device:
- Open the Rogers Xfinity app and select Devices.
- Select the device and open Device Details to see the manufacturer.
- Look for a green dot to see if the device is currently online.
- Check the hostname or MAC address in your physical device’s settings to match it with the app.
Personalize or rename a device
Give your devices clear names and icons so they are easy to recognize in the app.
Through the Devices tab
- Open the Rogers Xfinity app.
- Select Devices.
- Choose the device you want to update.
- Select Edit.
- Select See all device types if you want to change the icon.
- Enter a new name for the device.
- Select Apply Changes.
Assign devices to user profiles
Assigning devices to profiles helps you organize your home network and apply controls such as Downtime Schedules, Active Time Limits or Parental Controls.
Assign from the Device List
- Open the Rogers Xfinity app and select WiFi.
- Choose a device.
- Select Assign this Device.
- Pick a profile (Household, Guest, or a person).
- Select Save.
Assign from a Profile
- Open the Rogers Xfinity app and select WiFi.
- Select Manage People.
- Choose a profile.
- Select Assign Device.
- Select the boxes for the devices you want to add.
- Select Assign devices.
Remove a Device
Removing a device clears its history and deletes it from all profiles.
- Sign in to the Rogers Xfinity app.
- Select Connect.
- Choose the disconnected device you want to remove.
- Select Device Details.
- Select Forget Device.
If the device reconnects later, it will appear as a new device. You may need to update the WiFi settings on the device itself to prevent it from reconnecting automatically.
