Turn on band steering with the Hitron CODA-4582 modem

Band steering allows the Hitron CODA-4582 modem to seamlessly connect compatible devices between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network frequencies in your home, ensuring you always have the best connection. Learn more about band steering and how it works.

Below, find out how to enable and disable band steering with the Hitron CODA-4582 modem.

Using the MyWiFi App

  1. Open the MyWiFi App on your mobile device.
  2. Sign in using the following credentials:
    Username: cusadmin
Password: password (or the WiFi password you set up for your modem).
    • Note: If you’re unable to sign in, you can either factory reset your modem or contact us for assistance.
  3. On the Overview screen, select MyWiFi.
  4. Tap the arrow icon (>) on the My WiFi Networks
  5. Toggle the Band Steering button to On.
    • Note: To disable it, simply toggle it back off.
  6. Choose a WiFi network name from the list.
    • Note: We recommend you choose the network name of the frequency you connect to the most. For example, if you often connect devices to the network labelled “-5G,” select that to name your new network name as enabled by band steering.
  7. Select Save to confirm.
  8. Select Back to verify that only one WiFi network name is now displayed, instead of the former two.

Using the modem admin site

  1. Open a web browser on a device connected to your home network.
  2. Visit http://192.168.0.1.
  3. Sign in using the following credentials:
    Username: cusadmin
Password: password (or the WiFi password you previously set up for your modem).
    • Note: If you’re unable to sign in, you can either factory reset your modem or call Rogers at [#] for assistance.
  4. Select Wireless from the main menu.
  5. Select Advanced.
  6. Enable Band Steering by selecting the “Enabled” button beside it.
    • Note: To disable it, select the “Disabled” button beside it.
  7. Select Save Changes to confirm.

Note: This process will automatically rename your new network name after the 2.4 GHz frequency. If you want to change this to the 5 GHz frequency, you can do so by visiting this article on finding and resetting your WiFi credentials.
