Disable Find My iPhone

The following steps explain how to disable the Find My iPhone feature.

There are many ways to disable the Find My iPhone feature, but for security reasons they will all require the associated Apple ID and password. Perform any of the following to disable the feature, it is recommended to turn off through the iPhone settings to have minimal impacts to other features.

Turn off Find My iPhone

  1. Tap on Settings.
  2. Tap on iCloud.
  3. Toggle Find My iPhone to Off.
  4. Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted.

Unregister iPhone from Apple

  1. Go to https://appleid.apple.com on your web browser.
  2. Login with your Apple ID.
  3. Click the device you wish to unregister.
  4. Click Unregister.
  5. You will be prompted to confirm the action, click Unregister.
  6. The iPhone has been successfully removed from your Apple ID. Apple will also send a confirmation email to your email address associated to your Apple ID.

Sign Out and Delete iCloud Account

  1. Tap on Settings.
  2. Tap on iCloud.
  3. Tap Delete Account.
  4. Tap Delete to confirm.
    • Deleting the entire iCloud account will delete all content synced to the account.
    • If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password

Erase All Content and Settings

  1. Tap on Settings.
  2. Select General.
  3. Select Reset.
  4. Select Erase All Content and Settings.
  5. You will be prompted to confirm the actions, if you have a device passcode it will prompt for a password or simply tap Erase Phone.
    • This will restore your iPhone back to factory default and all data and content will be lost.
    • If prompted, enter your Apple ID and password.
