How does the Upfront Edge program work?

Upfront EdgeTM is a feature of our financing program, and lowers the monthly financing payments for your phone. At a later date, you’ll need to settle the Upfront Edge amount by either returning your phone or repaying your Upfront Edge amount.

How can I take advantage of the Upfront Edge program?

Upfront Edge is available online, in Rogers stores and by contacting customer service, and is offered on select phones on Rogers InfiniteTM plans with financing.

How is the Upfront Edge amount taxed?

Taxes are charged on the full price of the device before the Upfront Edge amount is deducted. The taxes on the full price will be financed in equal monthly payments over your financing term. If you choose to repay your Upfront Edge amount, no additional taxes will apply on this amount when it is charged on your bill.

What do I do with my phone at the end of my Upfront Edge term?

You have two options:

A) You can return the phone in good working condition.

B) You can keep it and repay your Upfront Edge amount which will be charged to your next bill.

You can find the start- and end-dates for your Upfront Edge term in your Upfront Edge Terms and Conditions that was provided to you when you bought your device.

What does “good working condition” mean?

Your device is in good working condition when it can power up to the home screen, accept a charge, and have the ability to perform a factory reset. The screen must be functional and cannot have any dark spots, blemishes, broken glass or cracked glass.

Please make sure to remove (or turn off) all accounts and passwords saved within the device (i.e., Find My iPhone, Google, Find My Mobile, and firmware passwords).

Keep in mind, we will not be able to accept a device that does not meet these requirements or that has been reported lost or stolen. If your device is not in good working condition, you will then need to repay the Upfront Edge amount.

What happens if I damage or lose my phone?

If you’re enrolled in Premium Device ProtectionTM, you can have your phone repaired or replaced through that program (Note: loss and theft are not protected in Québec). Meanwhile, if you’re enrolled in Device Protection LiteTM, you can have your phone repaired.

If you’re enrolled in AppleCare+, you are eligible to have your phone repaired or replaced for accidental out-of-warranty damage. Visit our Device Protection plans page for more information about each of these programs and their terms and conditions. Repaired or replacement phones from these programs will be accepted as part of the Upfront Edge program.

Otherwise, you will need to pay back the Upfront Edge amount at the end of your 2-year Upfront Edge term (or when you upgrade your phone).

How do I return my phone?

You can return your phone to any participating Rogers store, or by calling Customer Care. If you’re upgrading to a new device at one of our retail stores, you can return it at that time. For upgrades done online or through Customer Care, a return kit will be shipped to you so that you can return your Upfront Edge device.

Where can I find my Upfront Edge program end date?

The Upfront Edge program end date is 24 months after you purchased your phone and is included in your Upfront Edge Terms and Conditions, your monthly bill and in your MyRogers account. We will send you a reminder by text/SMS before the end of your 2-year Upfront Edge term, reminding you of your options to either return your phone or pay the Upfront Edge amount.

What do I do if I want to upgrade my phone before my Upfront Edge end date?

You can upgrade your phone anytime between month 2 to 24 of your Upfront Edge term. If you’re upgrading to a new device at one of our Retail stores, you can return your phone then. For upgrades made online or through Customer Care, a return kit will be shipped to you so that you can return you Upfront Edge.

Can new and existing customers participate in the Upfront Edge program?

Yes, this program is open to both new and existing customers.

Are all phones and plans eligible for the Upfront Edge program?

Currently, only select premium phones on Rogers Infinite plans with financing are eligible for the Upfront Edge program.

Can I use both the Upfront Edge program and the Rogers Trade-Up program?

Yes, if you are new to the Upfront Edge program, you can take advantage of Upfront Edge and trade in your old phone through the Rogers Trade-Up program, too. The Upfront Edge amount will be applied toward the monthly cost of your new phone.

If you trade in your phone at a Rogers store, you can choose to:

  1. Use the trade in value to further reduce the monthly cost of your new phone
  2. use the credit to purchase accessories; or
  3. have the credit applied to a future bill.

If you trade in your phone online or by contacting customer service, your (trade-in value) credit will be applied to a future bill.

Can I take advantage of the Upfront Edge program if I reserve my phone online?

Yes, just make sure to select the Upfront Edge option during your order.

Can I trade-in my phone using the Rogers Trade-Up program instead of returning my phone through the Upfront Edge program?

If you are upgrading your phone, you can trade it in using the Rogers Trade-Up program instead of returning your phone through the Upfront Edge program. We will charge the Upfront Edge amount on your next bill.

However, if you are not upgrading your phone, you cannot use the Rogers Trade-Up program. So you’ll need to either return the phone on your Upfront Edge end date, or have the Upfront Edge amount charged to your next bill.

What happens if I cancel my wireless services before the end date of my Upfront Edge term?

If you cancel your wireless services before the end date of your Upfront Edge term, you will need to repay your Upfront Edge amount. Once you cancel, you no longer have the option to return your phone. We will charge the Upfront Edge amount on your next bill along with any other applicable charges.

What happens if I change my mind?

During the 15-day trial period, you can still cancel your services as long as you return the phone in “like-new” condition, including original packaging. The Upfront Edge program will also be cancelled for you.

What happens if I transfer my phone number to another Rogers customer?

If you have an Edge Tab wireless plan:

  • If you decide to transfer your service to another Rogers customer during your Upfront Edge term, your Upfront Edge amount will also transfer over to them.

If you have a wireless plan with financing:

  • If you decide to transfer your service to another Rogers customer during your Upfront Edge term, you will be responsible for the Upfront Edge amount, which will appear on your next bill.

If you transfer your service to a business account:

  • You will be responsible for the Upfront Edge amount, which will appear on your next bill.
