The Ignite Home Phone service operates together with the Rogers Ignite modem.

Before you begin…

Make sure you’ve already set up your Ignite Internet. Without it, you won’t be able to install Ignite Home Phone.

As soon as you install your Gateway modem, your Ignite Home Phone service will be available from the top left phone port on the back of the modem.

If you prefer to use your Ignite Home Phone service by connecting to the phone wall jacks in your home, please call or chat with us to book a technician for installation. To prepare for an upcoming appointment, please visit this page.

Connecting your home phone and activating voicemail:

  1. Connect your home phone to the back of your Ignite WiFi Gateway modem by plugging the phone line into the port at the top left (phone port at top right is not active).

  2. If using a cordless phone base unit, complete any additional setup as instructed by the manufacturer.

  3. Check for a dial tone and if not available, simply restart your Gateway by unplugging your Gateway power cord for 10 seconds. Then plug it back in and wait for the light to turn solid white.

  4. Once you hear a dial tone, dial *98 on your home phone to start setting up your voicemail.

  5. Enter the last 4 digits of your home phone number as your temporary password and follow the prompts to complete the setup.

Reminder: The Ignite Home Phone service operates together with the Rogers Ignite modem. Since there is no built-in battery for this device model, Ignite Home Phone service won’t be available during a power outage or network disconnection. Under these circumstances, you won’t be able to make any calls, including Emergency 9-1-1 calls.

If you wish to make sure you can use the service even during a power outage, we recommend that you purchase an uninterruptable power supply (UPS), available from most electronics retailers.
