Set up your voicemail
Setting up your Home Phone voicemail only takes a few minutes.
Steps to activate your voicemail
- Dial *98 from your home phone.
- When prompted, enter your temporary PIN.
- If you’re a Rogers customer: Your temporary PIN is the last 4 digits of your home phone number.
- If you’re a Rogers together with Shaw customer: Your temporary PIN is the last 6 digits of your account number (shown in your welcome email).
- Follow the prompts to:
- Create a new voicemail PIN.
- Record your name.
- Record a personal greeting.
Check your voicemail
You can check your voicemail from your home phone or another phone.
Check voicemail from your home phone
- Dial *98.
- Enter your voicemail PIN.
- If you forgot your PIN, sign in to MyRogers or MyRogers (Shaw) to reset it.
- New messages will start playing unless you’ve turned off autoplay in your voicemail settings.
Check voicemail from another phone
Dial the access number for your location:
- Rogers (Canada or U.S.): 1‑877‑643‑7786
- Rogers (International): 1-416-901-6245
- Rogers together with Shaw:
- From anywhere: 1‑866‑656‑7429
- From Canada or the U.S.: 1‑866‑677‑7429
When prompted, enter your 10 digit home phone number and your voicemail PIN.
Long distance charges may apply if you’re calling from outside Canada.
Change or reset your voicemail PIN
You can update your voicemail PIN whenever you need to. There are 2 ways to do it:
Change or reset your voicemail PIN online
If you’re a Rogers customer, you can reset it in MyRogers.
- Sign in to MyRogers.
- Go to Usages & Services > Phone.
- Select Reset your voicemail password and follow the steps.
If you're a Rogers together with Shaw customer, you can reset it in MyRogers (Shaw).
- Sign in to MyRogers (Shaw).
- Go to My Services > Phone.
- Go to Manage Settings and select Edit for voicemail.
- Go to the Voicemail PIN section and select Edit.
- Choose a new PIN and Save.
Voicemail message controls
Use the keypad to rewind, pause, skip, save or delete messages.
When you’re listening to a message, press:
1 to rewind
2 to pause or continue
3 to fast forward
33 to skip to the end
4 to listen again
5 for the date, time, and length of the message
7 to delete
9 to save
0 for help
* to return to the main menu
# to skip the message
After message playback press:
1 to rewind
2 to pause or continue
4 to listen again
5 for the date, time and length of the message
7 to delete
9 to save
0 for help
* to exit
Saved and deleted messages
- Deleted messages aren’t permanently removed until you hang up.
- To recover a deleted message before hanging up:
- From the main menu, press 1 to review saved messages, press # to skip through messages.
- When you reach the deleted message, press 9 to restore it.
- After you hang up, deleted messages can’t be recovered.
Manage your voicemail settings online
You can manage your Home Phone voicemail settings in MyRogers or MyRogers (Shaw). Available options may vary slightly depending on your plan.
Voicemail feature settings
- Sign in to MyRogers or MyRogers (Shaw).
- Select your Home Phone service.
- Open the Voicemail settings section.
Turn voicemail on or off
If your plan supports it, you can enable or disable voicemail in your voicemail settings.
Number of rings
Choose how many rings before voicemail answers (2 to 9 rings).
Email notifications
You can set up email alerts for new voice messages and these options:
- A .wav audio file of each voicemail.
- Alerts when your mailbox is almost full or full.
- Add up to 5 email addresses for notifications.
Playback order
- Choose whether voicemail plays your newest or oldest messages first.
- Skip the main menu and play messages right away.
- Play the date, time, or number before each message.
Greetings
You can manage your greetings, including:
- Using the default greeting.
- Recording or uploading your own greeting.
- Setting an away greeting that won’t accept messages.
Language
Select your preferred voicemail system language (English, French, and additional languages if supported).
PIN and security settings
- Require a PIN when checking your voicemail from outside your home (recommended for security).
- Turn password skip on or off when checking voicemail from your home phone.
Additional Home Phone features
Privacy features
All privacy features are off by default. Turn them on to use them.
Anonymous call blocking
Blocks callers who don’t show their number (Private, Anonymous, Unknown, or Restricted). The call won’t ring.
Selective call blocking
- Lets you block specific phone numbers.
- You can add up to 30 numbers to your blocked list.
Spam call blocking
Automatically blocks known spam or telemarketing numbers.
Do not disturb
Let’s you temporarily sends all calls straight to voicemail.
Hide my caller ID
Let’s you choose whether your name, or both your name and number, are shown when you make outgoing calls.
Busy redial
Let’s you automatically checks a busy number and alerts you when the line becomes available.
Call forwarding and simultaneous ring
Call forwarding
- Forward calls to another phone number.
- You can forward all calls or only forward calls when your line is busy or you don’t answer.
Simultaneous ring
- Have your home phone and up to 4 other local numbers ring at the same time.
- Helpful if you want calls to ring at home and on a mobile or work phone.
Troubleshooting Home Phone voicemail
If your voicemail isn’t working as expected, try these simple steps.
Callers can’t leave voicemail
- If callers hear endless ringing, a busy signal, or can’t leave a message, call forwarding may be on. Dial *73 from your home phone to turn it off.
- After turning off call forwarding, make a test call to your home phone.
Voicemail not set up
- Dial *98 from your home phone.
- Follow the prompts to create a PIN and finish setting up your mailbox.
You’ll only need to do this the first time.
Can’t retrieve voicemail
Try calling your voicemail from another number:
- Dial your home phone number.
- Press * when your greeting plays.
- Enter your PIN.
Silent or blank messages
- Make sure your phone’s batteries are in place or it’s plugged in properly.
- Make a test call.
Message waiting indicator not working
- Dial *98.
- Enter your PIN.
- Follow the prompts to turn your message indicator off, then back on.
- Leave yourself a test voicemail.
Email notification issues
- Confirm your email notifications are turned on in MyRogers or MyRogers (Shaw)
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- If you changed your email address recently, update it in your voicemail settings.
PIN not accepted when checking voicemail from another phone.
- Make sure you’re entering your full home phone number when prompted.
- Reset your PIN in MyRogers or MyRogers (Shaw), then try again.
- If you don’t hear a PIN prompt, wait a few seconds after your greeting begins before pressing *.
