How to Ensure Bandsteering is On for the Ignite WiFi Gateway modem

Bandsteering is enabled by default on the Ignite WiFi Gateway modem. This helps ensure your devices automatically connect to the WiFi network with the strongest signal.

If you want to check that bandsteering is still turned on, you can use Ignite WiFi Hub.

Keep in mind:If you have WiFi Pods, you won't see your 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi networks listed separately. Pods require that you only have one WiFi network name and password so that all your devices can seamlessly connect to the network that will provide the best WiFi signal at any given time.

Using Ignite WiFi Hub

  1. Open the Ignite WiFi app.
  2. Sign in with your MyRogers credentials.
  3. Select Connect.
  4. Select See Network.
  5. Select the pencil icon (in the app) or Edit WiFi (on the website).
  6. Confirm that the box next to “Use different names and passwords for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi” is not checked. (If you have WiFi pods, this option will not be visible).
  7. If it is checked:
    • Uncheck the box.
    • Update the WiFi Name and WiFi Password fields with the credentials you want to use.
    • Select Apply Changes to finish and re-enable bandsteering.
