Creating filters automatically organizes your incoming emails into folders based on the rules you set.
Create an email filter
- Select the Settings gear
icon at the far right.
- Click More Settings.
- Click Filters and then select Add new filters.
- Customize your filter:
- Enter a filter name
- Set the rules
- Choose a folder to move your messages to
- Click Save.
Now any new email you receive that fits the criteria you’ve set will be moved into its respective folder.
Delete an email filter
- Select the Settings gear
icon at the far right.
- Click More Settings.
- Click Filters.
- Choose the filter you want to remove.
- Click the Trash
icon to delete the filter.
Sort filter order
- Prioritize your filters using the up and down arrows.
- If 2 filters can apply to the same email, the top filter will be used.
More info on filters
- You can set up to 500 filters.
- The number of filters you’ve used will be displayed.
- If you see a filter that you didn't add, it may be a sign that your email has been compromised. To ensure your email is secure, reset your email password and follow steps to protect your information.
