How to use the Amazon Luna gaming app

Luna brings seamless cloud gaming to your Rogers Xfinity set-top box. Check your eligibility, explore subscriptions and features and follow simple steps to start playing today.

Eligibility and requirements

Luna is available to Rogers Xfinity TV and Streaming customers. You’ll need to sign up for an Amazon account and have one of the following subscriptions to access and play games:

  • Amazon Prime: Get a rotating selection of games at no additional cost.
  • Luna Premium: Access a broader library of games for a monthly fee. Play over 100 games on devices you already own.​
  • Ubisoft+: Access iconic games from fan-favorite franchises in their most premium editions. Enjoy new releases on day 1.​

For Rogers together with Shaw customers, Luna will only work with Xi6 and XiOne Rogers Xfinity set-top box models and is not compatible with XG1v3, XG1v4, or XiD.

  • Launch games or search for titles using voice commands, like “Play Fortnite on Luna”.

How to access the Amazon Luna app

To access the app, use your voice remote and say “Luna app” or find it in the apps menu using your remote.

How to sign in to Amazon Luna

  1. Open the Luna app.
  2. Go into your menu and select My Stuff. You’ll be prompted to sign in. Scan the QR code with your phone or navigate to amazon.ca/code.
  3. Enter your Amazon email address or phone number and password.
    • If you have an existing Amazon Prime subscription, sign in to Luna using your Amazon Prime credentials to manage subscriptions, and sync preferences.
  4. Enter the code displayed on the Luna app screen and select Continue. Confirm that your account will be connecting to the correct device and select Connect.
  5. Return to the Luna app. Your content will load shortly and you’re ready to start playing.

How to pair your controller to Amazon Luna

The Luna app works with many controllers, including Xbox Gen 3, PlayStation DualSense 5, Nintendo Switch Pro (Joy Cons are not compatible), as well as the official Luna controller and the Luna controller mobile app. Headsets are not compatible.

If you have a Rogers Xfinity Entertainment Box:

  1. Press the Rogers, SHAW, or Menu button on your remote and select Settings  on your screen.
  2. Select Device settings.
  3. Select Bluetooth Devices or say "Bluetooth devices" using your voice remote.
  4. Put your controller in pairing mode, then locate it on the screen and select Connect.
  5. Your controllers will now be paired and stored for future gaming sessions.

If you have a Rogers Xfinity Stream Box:

  1. Select Settings on your Rogers Xfinity Stream home page or use your voice remote and say “Settings”.
  2. Select Connected Devices.
  3. Next to Bluetooth devices, select Manage devices, and then select Add new device.
  4. Put your controller in pairing mode, then locate it on the screen and select Connect.
  5. Select Add new device.
  6. Your controllers will now be paired and stored for future gaming sessions.

If your controller isn’t connecting, you might need to update it. If your Luna controller is paired to the Luna Controller app on mobile, it will automatically update.

How do I manage parental controls

You can manage access to select gaming content within the Settings menu of the Amazon Luna app. Parental controls of your Rogers Xfinity set-top box can be managed from the Settings menu on your device.

What do I do if my games are lagging or buffering?

To improve your connection and reduce lag or buffering on your Rogers Xfinity set-top box, try the following tips:

  • Place your gateway or router in an open area, not hidden behind furniture or walls.
  • Move your gateway or router closer to your set-top box or connect directly to your set-top box and keep it away from other electronic devices.
  • Avoid placing your gateway or router near other WiFi-enabled devices to reduce interference.
  • Use a wired Ethernet connection or consider using WiFi boosters for a stronger signal.
  • Press the back button (the arrow pointing left) on your remote to return to the previous screen.

Why isn't my controller connecting?

If your controller isn’t connecting, make sure it’s turned on and that it’s compatible to Luna, and check that your Bluetooth is turned on. Review How to pair your controller to Amazon Luna.

How do I restart my Rogers Xfinity set-top box?

  1. Press the Rogers, Shaw, or Menu button on your remote to open the main menu.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Select Device Settings.
  4. Select Power Preferences.
  5. Select Restart, then confirm. The welcome screen will appear as it restarts.
